I wonder if we will still get special techniques/abilities after maxing out basic skills such as cardio, fighting, shooting, etc? If so, then what will replace “Focus Aim” in the shooting skill? With SoD2 being a multiplayer game, I don’t see the whole slowing down time “Focus Aim” skill working. I would get tired of a co-op friend constantly activating “Focus Aim” slowing down my world too lol.

Maybe they’ve reworked “Focus Aim” to simply lock on to enemy heads without the whole slowing time down? or maybe they’ve scrapped “Focus Aim” altogether. Thoughts?

Yeah, it's definitely something that complicates things. It was mentioned during a live stream, but of course they weren't allowed to give us a straight answer. But I think it's safe to say it won't be in SoD II while playing with others.

Why? Why wouldn't a skill like focus aim be strictly limited to the person using it? Why would it have any effect on someone else?

Focus Aim slows down time, it slows down the world and everything in it. So if you and me are playing co-op and I activate “Focus-Aim”, it will slow down everything including you and what ever your doing. You could be getting swarmed by a horde and trying to time a dodge for example, the whole change up in game speed/time could throw your dodge timing off and cause you to press the button at the wrong time. That is just one example of how it could mess with another player.

Gee, thanks for clearing that up. In almost five years of playing and about 2.5 million gun kills, I had no idea what focus aim did. :p

You are way overthinking it. Focus aim "slows" time for you. You are the one using the skill. There is absolutely no reason why you using that skill should or would affect anyone else you may be grouped with; it slows time relative to you and what you are doing - aiming and shooting - not relative to what someone else is doing.

Ok, imagine your being chased by a feral, and I Aim at that feral and activate “Focus Aim”. Does the feral slow down for both of us?

Or are you saying the feral only slows down for me but continues to chase you at top speed? (because doesn’t make sense)

This begs a whole new question, i wonder if there will be "team skills"

What if focus aim does exist and will affect the whole team but it is a really special skill.
Example: you may only get it on an "army ranger specialist" or "gun store owner" character after much training.

I mean how useful is four human players who know how to play the game to be in bullet time? you can take out a horde, a feral and stun a jugg in that time with auto weapons.

This really opens up something interesting I did not think about until now. You may have player specific skills but then maybe one "team specific" skill that is very useful in a very dangerous situation with four players.

Wonder if Undead thought the same thing as we all imagine they are in the polishing phase at this point and time.

When you say "multiplayer," please tell me that means (at least primarily, if not strictly) Cooperative mode, NOT (at least not primarily nor strictly) player-versus-player.

Player versus player has its place: in a different game than the ones I play, or at least in a separate run-time/user-community . . .

PVP is a good way to kill a great singleplayer game. Coop is generally salutary.

SoD2 doesn’t have PvP, so yes I was referring to co-op when I said multiplayer.

    blech, no thank you.

OT: Focus aim as it currently exists likely can't make a return in SoD2. Hypothetically, if one were to play off-line only it wouldn't make a difference but I doubt UL would be willing to split features in such a way. The new focus aim, if it even makes a return will be more akin to a super-aim assist perhaps. Not nearly as cool looking but still helpful.

Maybe once activated you're literally incapable of missing your next however many shots. Similar to the pistol takedown in Far Cry 4.

Would it be possible to have 'Focus Aim' when playing alone? Or would that be too much for the game to cope with?
