I’ll bring the beer
Ugh that's why pages and subthreads are so useful. Sak's site is nice but it still looks and feels different so it's gonna take a while to adjust. Also none of the devs are gonna post on there.
After here, will there be a chance to actively reach the devs?
It seems they are more active on discord than on here. They are going to need to add a suggestions and a bug fix page.
We can find out what the Devs say, if anything and post comments. UL (well at least some) have not given up on people who prefer Forums - You need to visit SAK's site to see what I mean - However in the meantime and although I have just posted this in the music thread - it seems appropriate for here
UL have lost a valuable person in the name of @YojimBeau - Over the years I have seen him help countless people who could not get their game to work.
It may be staff whom is active but not necessarily developers. Which suffers without a coherent paper trail.
We still wait for something from the new PR person. She is not on Discard yet.
Yep, I know it and I'll be spending the rest of the month we've got here trying to make it feel more like home while still being unique.
Sometimes community sites can become ideal spots for fans of a game. If you look at gtaforums.com, that place has zero connection to Rockstar Games, and it’s become the goto spot for anybody seeking any type of info or guidance on the GTA or Red Dead games. It’s fan created and fan operated with no control from the devs or publishers. That fact alone could be the driving force behind that type of community. You won’t find any censorship or damage control in a fan driven community. Nothing but the cold hard truth. Sometimes sites like these can become places where devs themselves goto for feedback and information because 9 times outta 10, the players within communities like these are die hard fans and know what they are talking about. Rockstar had stated they themselves read those forums. It’s possible that the Alamo can become that place for the SoD community.
The Alamo will most certainly be the go to place to discuss our favourite franchise. Once SOD 2 is released there will be a influx of new members when they find this place is read only. I have been over to discord and it is a unorganised mess of different convos overlapping each other.
@Undead Nicole - Question, if I may, when the forums go read-only, will we still be able to sign in and access PMs that we have stored?
There's a lot of PMs from the Lupus in Forums and other RPs that I have saved and I don't want to lose those
I tried Discord. However, I just can’t get into it because there is too much scrolling and messages easily get lost.
Check the link in SwissArmyKnife's sig. We're continuing on with an unofficial forum. You're welcome to join us there.
Virgel, that's a good question. I'll ask. However, I suggest you copy over anything you want to save to a txt doc or something similar.
Will do just in case, thanks for the reply.
I didn't really see anything in the first post that explained why closing the forum was decided upon, aside from dwindling posts and the assumption was that people don't use forums anymore. Any way you can expand on that?
We're dedicated to going out into the community and visiting the places where our players live, rather than making them come to us.
Okay, so what benefits does Discord offer over an official forum?
If you want to go there, you can. We don't own the ToS, therefore we're not responsible for maintenance or security upgrades, et al. Much like Twitter, FB, Reddit and so on.
