    Undead Sanya Here To Help

    Monday, July 15

Not exactly a roundup, just a couple notes:

Finally got the FAQ cleaned up.

Nothing you all don't know, probably, unless you were curious about the intended op system for the PC version. (Planning to go back as far as Windows XP, in case you were worried.)

The big thing planned for tomorrow is the Twitch stream:

Definitely do not miss the stream if you can help it. Jeff's usually too slammed to do Q&As, but he loves them - and all of you. So come on out and ask him questions, and watch him answer live on camera!

    Undead Sanya Here To Help

    Friday, July 19

Australia! We are deep into the certification process, and I can now tell you that if everything stays on the current track, you will get the game next Friday night. Specifically, July 26 at 2 AM Seattle time - which translates to 5 PM AWST/7 PM AEST. It may take a few hours to propogate. And of course, if something goes horribly wrong in the meantime, it would kick the entire process forward several days. Anything can and usually does happen, so please, stay tuned for updates. But next Friday is our best guess. Is there any special Australian good-luck charm I should know about?

I assume you all saw the first post about the sandbox design, but if not: Gun Guy Brant says to let you know that he's adding "15-20 new guns and a bunch of new melee weapons." Hell, y'all, I didn't know there were 15-20 guns in existence that weren't already in the game. But there you go.

In response to a bunch of tweets asking for the sandbox price: We don't decide or announce that - it's a publisher thing. All I know is that it will probably cost something and we'll bust our asses to make it worth the price.

We wanted to give a shout out to one of our first dedicated fansites!

I did not get a copy of the preliminary patch notes by update time. We are still actively testing all the stuff we want to include, so as soon as Jeff has a chance to sign off on it, I'll get it posted.

Finally, if you ordered gear, we wanted to let you know the last of the bundles hit the post office today and are on their way to you.

If you are in the grip of the heat wave baking multiple countries... stay hydrated. Beer does not hydrate. Water does. Have a wonderful weekend :)

    Undead Sanya Here To Help

    Thursday, July 25

If you missed the stream on Tuesday, I _finally_ got the notes up:

Don't forget, Australians, there's a launch day contest here:

    One last launch day contest:

A bunch of you have been asking about an issue where you appear to find no loot. We've been digging on it for a couple weeks, and I've got our preliminary findings here:

Lots of people asking, do we have to start a new game when the sandbox mode becomes available, or can we use our existing game? The answer is you'll need a new game - sandbox has its own menu screen and save (and achievements, of course).

The other popular one is "which character will you start with in Sandbox?" The answer to that and a lot more will be answered next week. Geoffrey's new design article is coming at that time :)

Thanks for making our final launch day for SoD awesome :)

    Friday, August 2

You know you missed the roundups :) Haven't done 'em because I haven't had anything to say... but I have a few tidbits for you:

TU3 is in certification and on track to be out at the end of next week, barring the unforeseen, caveats and caution, blah blah blah. The intention is for every region in the world to get TU3 at the same time. I will let you know if this changes.

New friends: TU3 = Title Update 3. Free patch with fixes and goodies. The notes are here:

Reminder: Don't let your community get over 30ish until TU3. If you have already gotten up that big, do not use the "search for survivors" feature. Some, but not all, players get hammered with a freeze or an eternal load bug, and I don't want to see it happen to you.

As a side note, we are working on minimizing the number of versions of the game there are in the world, because we currently have to go through certification four times with each update. We parallel the processes as best we can - we being the Lab and our publisher - but it's still time-consuming, especially since three of the versions are totally identical.

Sharpeyed readers sent me a link to a site listing German game ratings. State of Decay was intriguingly listed as having a special Gamescon rating for the PC version. I am sorry to say we will not be Gamescom-bound. (I FREAKING WISH, I love Gamescon.) We did sub our _content_ (remember, the content is the same for PC and Xbox) to Germany early, so the PC version does indeed have a German rating already! But the PC version's technical bits are not done.

The PC version is still happening this year, delivered to you via Steam, and I'll refine that estimate when I have more data.

Yesterday we released our second design article for the sandbox DLC, and today, I did a spot of followup to answer questions. The links to both Geoffrey's article and my followup are here:

That's it. Cross your fingers we skate through cert like a car skidding on zombie guts, and have a wonderful weekend.
